The Atlantic Council’s Middle East Strategy Task Force (MEST) is accepting video contest submissions telling stories of progress and positivity about the region. As the contest website highlights, media reports on the Middle East typically paint a picture of “chaos and despair,” and this contest seeks to contrast that portrayal with another reality—all the “stories of hope, optimism, and progress for the region.” Those narratives are real and MEST wants the world to see them.

The videos should be within two to five minutes in duration, uploaded to YouTube with “MEST Video Submission 2016” in the video description, and the YouTube link submitted to MEST directly via email at MESTVideo@atlanticcouncil.org. And there are prizes! A grand prize of $1,000 and a special feature during MEST’s report launch event, a second place reward of $500, and a third place prize of $250. All winning submissions (including honorable mentions) will be featured on the MEST website.

The submission deadline is October 3, 2016. Detailed submission instructions can be found in English and in Arabic.
